Egoscue MethodWhat is it? Developed by Pete Egoscue, this is not a hands-on therapy. This is a do it yourself therapy. The Egoscue Method involves a series of stretches that are uniquely designed for a particular dysfunctional postural alignment pattern. Most people’s postures could use a little help. Many professional athletes have/do use the Egoscue Method. What does it do? The Egoscue Method focuses on establishing better postural alignment, not only during standing, but for sitting and functioning as a whole. This blends nicely with other forms of hands-on healing. What can I expect? You’ll do gentle stretching, with some quick muscle isolation and strengthening exercises. The majority of stretches are easy to do and some are quite relaxing. It can take an hour or more per day in the beginning. But after a while, then the whole routine can be done in about 15 – 20 minutes. What are the reported benefits? Better posture, can help to dramatically decrease body aches and pain, better mobility, better balance How much does it cost? For under $20 dollars, you can buy the book Pain Free. For more assistance with the program, you can send in pictures to the Egoscue clinic. Experts will analyze your posture and send you a menu of exercises to do for your posture. This runs $100 - $125. What kind of training does my Egoscue Therapist have? Since this is a do it yourself therapy there is not an immediate need for an Egoscue Therapist. But if you need some help they do have certified practitioners who undergo training at the Egoscue clinic in San Diego California. And they now travel to different parts of the country to meet individually with clients. Recommended Reading
